from governor robert bentley to raise morethan 700-million dollars to cover the state's general fund.more than half a billion dollars of the proposal comes from tax increases.falcon weekly's brianna davis joins us live in the studio to break down the numbers.brianna? {brianna cu}thanks jacob. governor robert bentley outlined his 541 milliondollar tax plan late last week... and he will present it tuesday to the legislature.according to bentley...the state's general fund budget has a 700 million dollar shortfall.the last few years...the state has relied on borrowing and one-time sources of moneyto fill in for the extra funds.

bentley says it's time for bold leadershipto help solve this continuing problem. and his solution is a tax increase... and withit...there will be more money in the education trust fund.{take sot} {gov. robert bentley: let me be clear, veryclear: my plan does not hurt education. in fact, let me also be clear, the people ineducation, in education, k-12, higher-ed, our two year college systems, they are goingto be the happiest they've been in eight years because our plan will give them more moneythan they have had probably since 2008} {take full screen}the money will come from increasing the automobile sales tax...generating an estimated 200 milliondollars... and a hike in the tobacco tax...

--reporter pkg-as follows-- police in alabama say for several weeks -- agroup of teens fought on facebook. but on friday night in a birmingham park--their online argument became physical. investigators say -- during the fight twoboys pulled out guns and started shooting. the shots injured two girls -- and killedanother. she was 14-years-old. : "she was a good person. she, she never hadany trouble. she was never in anything. she was a good person. she liked to help people." birmingham police arrested two teenaged boys.

: "this is senseless. where are they gettingthe guns from? where are they learning to be so violent at a young age?" also on friday -- across the country in wausau, wisconsin -- police say 10 students got into a fight on social media. police say one group then drove to a house,got out of the car and started shooting a b-b gun at another group on a porch. the fight escalated. one boy was stabbed in the back -- twice -- anddied. he was 13-years-old.

{take fullscreen}the men's basketball team were awarded the regular season conference championship trophybefore playing their quarterfinal matchup saturday against the u-s-c aiken pacers inthe peach belt conference tournament. the falcons showed aiken how it earned thep-b-c title, defeating the pacers 66-53. {connor}senior troran brown was named p-b-c player of the week last thursday as he led the chargefor the men's basketball team, which captured the p-b-c regular season championship andthe top seed in the west division. brown averaged 25.7 points, 7.7 assists and5 rebounds per game in three games while shooting 50-percent from the field.congrats, troran .

{connor cu}meanwhile the women's basketball team ended its season with a 67-44 loss to guest youngharris college in its final peach belt conference last wednesday. {connor cu}turning now to softball... after starting its conference slate with twolosses, the u-m softball team evened up its record with two peach belt conference victoriessunday afternoon. the falcons defeated the francis marion universitypatriots in both games of the doubleheader, 7-0 and 12-3the falcons will hit the road on march 4th to face the west alabama tigers.
